The Church Charity for 2008 is the North East London Cancer Help Centre (Sue's House), 10 Dawlish Drive, Ilford, Essex, IG3 9ED.

Sue's House is a house equipped for various therapies, with meeting rooms and an office. The centre exists to give help to the need and distress of people diagnosed with cancer and their familes and friends.

Like all cancer support groups, Sue's House came into being to help people to help themselves. Sue's House provides a safety net of mutual self-help and practical and emotional support for those involved in the cancer experience - patients, ex-patients, family and friends.

With medical back-up and experienced staff, Sue's House gives support through counselling, healing, relaxation, diet and supporting therapy work. The aim is to help patients to understand and take responsibility for their own health. Everything done at the House is complementary to the treatment given by the patients' own doctors or hospitals.

The House serves Ilford, Barking, Dagenham and surrounding areas. Staff give their services free of charge and all expenses are met through donations and fundraising.
